CHORDS
Suppose we take three or more notes and strum them all at once. What do you think we have just created? Music? Right! That is exactly how a chord is formed as well. What if we play the notes that form a chord one after the other? Good job! Arpeggios" is the right answer.

Three types of chords exist. Open chords, without any doubt, lead the pack. In the following pages, you will be given a roster of the most common types of chords. In case you wonder what major and minor mean, keep in mind that a major sound refers to a happy sound (e.g. Old Mc Donald Had A Farm), whereas a minor sound refers to a sad, dark, depressing musical mood (e.g. Yesterday).

Chords are great workouts for your fingers. Practicing chords on a day-to-day basis will develop and improve your finger dexterity ("chops" as it is often called in the industry jargon).

A SAMPLE LESSON

A Word On Harmony

Chords create harmony. A C major chord would be a C note if you had left out its 3rd and 5th degrees. By adding the 3rd and the 5th notes of the C chromatic scale, we not only form a chord, but also "harmonize" the C note. Why do we do it? Because a C major chord sounds much richer than a plain old C note. The 1st, 3rd and 5th notes of any major chord would sound consonant , in key, with its tonic/keynote. Harmony is almost always built on "consonant", not "dissonant" notes.

When you know enough about chords, you also know a lot on "harmony". For instance, the C major chord is built on the 1st, 3rd and 5th degrees of the C chromatic scale. What you could do, if you were the arranger for an orchestra, is to have three instruments play each degree of the C major chord separately. A guitar could play the 1st note "C", and a piano could play the 3rd degree "E" while a bass guitar could fret the 5th degree "G". Together, they would be playing a C major chord, individually they have only played single notes.

The notes in a chord, or the degrees in a chord formula, give us strong clues for harmonization. Bass players, acting as the harmony agents in all bands, go through the set by playing the root notes of every chord used in the song. However, a simple major chord is built on the 1st, 3rd and 5th degrees, and playing either note on top of a major chord would also sound fine. The chord formulas give us a sneak preview of what variations we can do for the song without sounding dissonant- out of key. In them, we find the list of all right substitute notes available for harmony. A G note, the 5th, or an E note, the 3rd, will work just fine over the tonic chord (C major).

SUMMARY

The Bible or The Koran studies the conflicts, differences and similarities between the two ancient scriptures based on the lives of the first three prophets, Adam, Noah and Abraham. Contrary to the common belief of all holy books saying the same thing, "The Bible or The Koran" clearly proves the opposite.

The Bible, for instance, speaks of the race mixing that went on between the "sons of God" and daughters of men" as the major reason of the flood. The Koran, however, reports not a word on any race mixing. The flood, according to the Koran, was caused by the rejection of Noah as a prophet by the dwellers of his town. The Bible reports Noah's curse in full detail. In the Koran, no such curse is mentioned. In the Bible, God damns and curses Adam and his wife following the forbidden tree incident. In the Koran, God almost forgives them both. The Bible reports mountains of Ararat" as the resting spot for Noah's Ark, whereas the Koran suggests mount "Al-Judi" as the place to look.

God’s Awakening Dream

Is life a dream? If yes, whose dream is it? God's? Are we the mere "images" of that dream? God's Awakening Dream now has an official e-group for discussion, exchanging new findings and proceeding further research.

INTRODUCTION

What if you were told that you are dead already, physically, and mentally, and what you call "life" is NOT?

Have a listen: Quantum Physics, if you've heard about this modern science that is changing the world, says one thing: Life is not predictable, mechanical and Newtonian as we all think, if it were, unexplainable phenomena such as Quantum Jumps would not be possible. In other words, the "reality" of life is QUESTIONABLE!

When you ask the Bible, you get this: God rests on day Seven, which is today, we are His "images", just like the images in your dream, virtual not real, and on the Armageddon Day, Day Eight, the Dream will be over, and the virtual characters of the Dream will vapor off.

Let me quote a few verses here:
-------------------------------------
Holy Bible, Psalms 44:23:
-------------------------------------
"Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever."

We all think we exist whereas God is the only One who truly exists, as stated clearly in the following biblical verses. If there is to be one deity that has to be taken literally in this life, God must be it! "There is none else" is all He says!
-------------------------------
Holy Bible, Isaiah 45:
-------------------------------
7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
18 For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.
21 Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have
not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.
22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else

All you are is Him,
In His awakening Dream.

Here are some reader responses to the God’s Awakening Dream theory!

For Savasan.  I am quite interested in your thesis re: G-d's awakening Dream.  I would like very much to receive it.  Thank you for sharing your position. Often, I have felt that I am but a figment of G-d's imagination!  When HE awakens, I am no longer.DFS.

I read SaVaSan's thoughts with interest. These interpretations certainly make me re-think the concept that a rose by any other name would smell as sweet. I am constantly amazed at the many possible ways to read a piece of text and how it truly changes not just the words but the entire character of the text.
Jon Batzdorff

Hello,

I am very interested in seeing your thesis regarding "God's Awakening Dream," as you excerpted on the EQ list. Is this something you can email, or a web-site I need to visit, or what? This sounds fascinating. Thanks!

Jim/ALabaster

This is a very interesting concept to me.  For some time I have been seeing New Testament scriptures that indicate that in a very real sense, we are not alive but dead even while we physically exist if we are not in Christ, the source of all life.  Reality is not this world.  When we look at our hand we think we are seeing something solid, but we know we are not seeing our hand as it really is and if we could see the atoms that it is made up of we would still not be seeing our hand because the atoms are made up of something smaller.  When do we get to something real that is not made up of something else smaller.  I do believe that the whole physical world is illusion and temporary like a wisp of smoke.  True or absolute reality is only when you reach the Creator of this illusion.  He, She, or It is the only  true reality.   He is the Truth and the Life and in reality He is the only Truth and Life.---Merritt.

What The Beatloafs Say

LIked the song versatle - St.Louis, Missouri

Good rock.
This track has a good beat to it, and I like the vocals. I also like that the lyrics are clear--they're not drowned out by the guitars like most songs. I would have liked it to change speeds a bit more drastically, just to shake things up, but it was good the way it was. Nice job! lalalang - Maumee, Ohio

Cool
Tom Pettyish... Like it Foundre - Rockford, Illinois

Pissed Off? I don't Give A Damn
Great track to listen to when you're pissed off, for me. Guitar riffs are original and executed well, along with the bass and drums. Vocals are a little shaky, but that's mostly just an opinion on my part. I don't usually like the type of voice the lead singer has, but otherwise everything sounds good. Nice job. BandNerd2003 - Cleveland, Ohio

could we have a winner?
This was a really well performed song with excellent lead guitar and bass work the beat is simple yet accentuates the mood of the whole song the vocals were just a tad unclear at times.....sounds like a soundtrack cut to me!! jseter - Dalton, Georgia

What a nice rhythm man!!!!!!!!!!!
I really like this song, the rhythm is great and the bass is great. On the other hand the production is not too good, although considering the kind of track it is maybe close to what they want. The vocals fit great, but the background is maybe too clean and in a bass tone, I would prefer a broken voice. Sombi - Playa San Juan, Alicante, Spain

Rollin rocker
Liked the guitar licks and drum beat... bring the vocals up front more... length just right cynicalgirl - Falls Church, Virginia

New Age
This would b e good on Windam Hills label. Reticulum4 -
San Francisco Bay Area, California

Catchy tune with something else.
I though this song was just a general feel good song because that mexican kind of beat makes you feel good inside. I would say this song is one of the best i've heard through this progam but their should be another insrument, you know, just to add that extra bit to the piece. If this was done, I think this song could be big. Nice work with the acustic! Gonzo_ja -
Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Black Mountainside
Nice, very similar to Black Mountainside by Jimmy Page or 'Black Water Side' by Bert Jansch Morty -
Grand Junction, Colorado
